Happy New Year!

I hope 2016 is a good one for you. Today I’ve been invited to two book launches, and yesterday Frances Hardinge won the Costa Children’s Prize for The Lie Tree, so all is feeling very right with the literary world.
Today is the 5th of January, which means it’s only five months until The Girl of Ink and Stars is published. I’ve spent the past two days writing letters to some of my favourite authors. These letters will be sent alongside proof copies, which will be ready in…wait for it…LESS THAN THREE WEEKS. I’ve also received draft versions of the beautiful endpapers depicting Joya, so this year is already making me giddy.
I’ll leave you with this lovely quote from Emma Rice, speaking about her new role at the Globe. Rice is responsible for many of my favourite plays and my favourite theatre company Kneehigh, but I feel like she could be talking about children’s books here!
